Proposed entrance to the secondary dwelling includes considered placement of windows balancing natural light, garden views and privacy
We have been engaged to design a secondary dwelling within an established garden property. This will allow a single mother to age in place, surrounded by her existing community, while her daughter and young family move into the primary dwelling.
The existing brick primary dwelling is a small 80sqm with an angled position on the site. Our design celebrates this siting, using it to create a generous, landscaped entry sequence, ensuring privacy to each separate dwelling.
Highlight windows provide ample solar access, while sensitive framed views of the garden provide a strong relationship between the interior and the exterior.
Materials reference the existing dwelling, with lots of opportunity for some fun brick detailing.
