The Executive Committee of the existing residential complex engaged BASE to revitalise an existing 1980’s 4 storey brick building. We undertook this project in collaboration with architect Alan Powell. This is an exciting project founded on strong sustainable principles that we hope can showcase the potential for similar buildings to be upgraded in a sensitive and proactive way.
The project brief is to:
- Increase the lifespan of the building
- Improve the energy efficiency of the building
- Improve accessibility
- Upgrade existing facilities
- Uplift the overall value
Environmental Strategies:
- New lift and improved accessibility. promotes ageing in place of both owner occupiers and long term tenants, therefore preserving existing community
- Water tanks and associated watering systems
- Communal composting
- LED lighting where not already in place
- New photovoltaic solar system
- New electric vehicle charging stations
- New green roof over new covered entry
- Street library
